The BTR5 series has been a best-seller among Bluetooth DAC/headphone amplifiers in the same price range since its release in 2019. This time, the upgraded iteration model of the BTR5, the BTR15, offers you a lighter, more powerful, new and improved user and listening experience.
With the BTR15, FIIO uses "hot-bent" curved glass on both the front and back of the device for the first time. This not only makes the device easier to hold, but it is also 6.4 grams lighter than the BTR5. Together with the aluminum alloy center frame, they make the BTR15 a comfortable device to work with - you can't put it down once you pick it up.
The BTR15 also features a large display: a stunning 0.96-inch OLED display. This display not only allows you to display more information at once, but also larger display fonts, making it easier to see device status and change various settings.
From the user's point of view, FIIO engineers have designed the BTR15 with a switch that allows switching between PC/BT/PHONE working mode at the touch of a button. In PC mode, the device is fully powered by the computer, while in BT/PHONE mode, the device is powered by the internal battery. In short, the BTR15 can adapt to different devices while allowing you to enjoy HiFi music anytime, anywhere.
The upgrades start at the heart of the BTR15, specifically the chips that power it. The BTR15 uses the powerful combination of the Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth chip + XMOS 16-core XU316 that supports stable high-resolution audio playback in any mode. BT mode supports all Hi-Res Bluetooth codecs with sampling rates up to 96 kHz, and PC/PHONE modes support decoding up to 384 kHz/32-bit PCM and DSD256, as well as MQA Full Decoder.
In addition to the standard 3.5mm single-ended headphone output, the BTR15 also comes with the widely used 4.4mm balanced headphone output. Thanks to the impressive internal design, the output power is vastly improved.
With this in mind, FIIO engineers designed an independent power supply for the headphone amplifier portion of the ES9219MQ. This results in cleaner and more robust power for the headphone amplifier. Compared to the BTR5, the BTR15 has a 40% increase in output power to 340 mW with balanced output, and a 56% increase in output power to 125 mW with single-ended output.
The BTR15 features a global parametric equalizer (PEQ). Through FIIO's proprietary PEQ algorithm and user interface, you can choose the exact frequencies to be adjusted in each mode, along with their gain levels and bandwidth, allowing you to tune the sound exactly the way you want.
