The AudioQuest Forest Digital Coax is one of the latest digital coax cables from AudioQuest. This cable has a perfect price/performance ratio and can be used, among other things, as a digital interlink between streamer and DAC.
Digital Coax cables from AudioQuest are designed to minimize distortion over an extremely wide bandwidth. In many applications, the speed of digital communication is important. This is most obvious if you want to transport large files as quickly as possible, or if you want to view large HD Video files. With Coaxial Digital cables, speed is important not only to transport as much data as quickly as possible, but much more so because the time relationship within a digital stream is incredibly important to reconstruct the analog waveform that must convey to our ears all the information, the music, and the enjoyment we derive from it. Distortion in the time domain (jitter) of the signal makes the sound sound small and flat instead of three-dimensional or sharp and enveloping instead of smooth and transparent.
MASSIVE0.5% SILVERED GUIDERS: Solid conductors prevent mutual interference between wires in twisted pair cables and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are perfect for high-frequency applications. These signals, because they have such a high frequency, transport themselves almost exclusively over the surface of the conductor. Because this surface is made of a very pure grade of silver, the performance is almost equal to that of a solid silver conductor, but is much closer to solid copper cables in terms of pricing. This is an incredibly cost-effective way to produce high-quality Digital Coax cables.
FOAMED-HARD-CEL ISOLATION: Only foamed hard-cell insulation is used in most AudioQuest video and digital cables. As with foamed-PE, nitrogen is injected to create air chambers. Hard foam is used because the stiffness of the material keeps the distance between the conductors stable over the entire length of the cable, keeping the cable's characteristic impedance constant.
100% SHIELDING (FILE + VERTINED SPIRAL): Shielding plays an important role in any cable design, but the shielding of coax interconnects is extra important because it acts not only as shielding but also as a return path. Therefore, AudioQuest pays extra attention to the quality of the metals used and the manufacturing techniques used for shielding, as both have an effect on picture and sound quality.
METAL-LOW NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shielding is simple. Preventing captured RF disturbances from modulating the equipment's ground potential requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Noise-Dissipation System prevents much of the captured RFI from reaching equipment grounding.
