The JDS Labs Atom DAC 2 is designed to fully utilize the performance of the Atom Amp 2 or Atom Amp+, allowing these amplifiers to deliver their full power. The Atom DAC 2 features USB Type-C and TOSLINK inputs and runs on upgradeable XMOS-based firmware, with support for UAC2 and UAC1 fallback for maximum compatibility. A subtle light ring provides visual feedback during use, turns off automatically when inactive and activates silently and instantly when needed. With improved I/V phase, the DAC operates more efficiently and cooler, and the anodized aluminum housing can be personalized with engravings.

USB Type-C Connectivity

The Atom DAC 2's native USB Type-C input supports up to 32-bit/384 kHz PCM via a custom XMOS UAC2 engine, with full ASIO and DSD support. UAC1 mode is available via a UAC1 fallback cable, making the DAC compatible with consoles such as the PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Efficient Power Design

The Atom DAC 2 is powered by an optimized power network with an external AC transformer and 10 precision regulators, for consistent rail voltage and extremely low ripple. Thanks to this improved efficiency, the DAC runs cooler than the earlier Atom DAC+, with a temperature drop of about 5°C.

MEMS Oscillator Clock

The DAC uses 45/49 MHz MEMS oscillators with ±25 ppm frequency stability, which minimizes jitter and ensures accurate digital-to-analog conversion.

Upgradeable Firmware

The XMOS-based firmware manages all functions and supports DFU updates, allowing users to upgrade the Atom DAC 2 with new enhancements in the future.

Automatic Standby

After 5 minutes of USB inactivity, the Atom DAC 2 automatically goes into standby, turning off the light ring. Upon renewed activity, the DAC activates immediately and silently. The light ring is now firmly attached to the aluminum housing for added durability.

Differential I/V output

The differential output of the ES9018K2M DAC is combined with a custom DC-coupled transimpedance stage with three OPA1692 opamps per channel (six total) for accurate, low-noise analog output.

Metal Housing

The Atom DAC 2 is housed in a stylish aluminum chassis that is both durable and aesthetically pleasing. The anodized surface can be personalized with free engraving, allowing users to add text or artwork of their choice.

Full On/Off Switch

The Atom DAC 2 replaces the old rocker switch with a real, dedicated on/off switch-no compromises, no fuss.
