The advantages of the planar magnetic driver

The planar magnetic driver has a flat, thin diaphragm with embedded wires suspended in the magnetic gap. This design allows the diaphragm to move in a piston-like manner across the entire frequency spectrum. The diaphragm is light and has a good transient response, making the planar driver naturally a much better choice for sound reproduction than a dynamic driver.

2nd generation EqualMass™ wiring technology

It is common practice to address the uneven magnetic field distribution by using wires of different widths on the diaphragm in other planar magnetic headphones. With EqualMass™, we go one step further. By connecting different numbers of the same width wires in parallel, EqualMass™ achieves uniform driving force to all parts of the diaphragm while keeping the weight evenly distributed. This causes the diaphragm to move back and forth with the same motion and momentum, reducing harmonic distortion to almost zero. In the 2nd generation of EqualMass™ wiring, we introduce a symmetrical wiring structure, further improving the stability of the diaphragm across the entire frequency spectrum.

Automatically calibrate production phase

To ensure uniformity in the distribution of magnetic field strength across each planar magnetic driver, we developed a proprietary automatic toolset for calibrating and compensating the magnetic circuit during production. This meticulous process ensures that every S5 headphone delivers sound identical to the golden monster created by its designer.
