Pure open-back design

In a fully open-back design, the driver is the most important component because any diaphragm movement is immediately converted into sound.

The ATH-R70xa's open sound box allows unrestricted airflow and eliminates any distortion or artificial amplification of the sound. The headphones deliver pure sound directly from the driver for an authentic open-back listening experience.

Handmade in Japan

Each headphone is carefully assembled from parts we have made ourselves and thoroughly tested before leaving the factory.

Featherweight design

These open-back headphones weigh only 199 grams (without cable), making them almost unnoticeable on the head. This allows you to stay focused on your work in comfort, even during long studio sessions.  

Open versus closed back

Open-back headphones are ideal for mixing, mastering and creating in the studio or other private spaces. They offer a natural, spacious sound similar to that of speaker monitors.

Closed-back headphones isolate sound coming from outside, making them a great solution for session musicians or those listening to music in public or noisy environments.
