AudioQuest Diamond Digital Coax

The AudioQuest Diamond Digital Coax is a 6-layer carbon shielded digital interlink and uses solid silver conductors.

Digital Coax cables from AudioQuest are designed to minimize distortion over an extremely wide bandwidth. In many applications, the speed of digital communication is important. This is most obvious if you want to transport large files as quickly as possible, or if you want to view large HD Video files. With Coaxial Digital cables, speed is important not only to transport as much data as quickly as possible, but much more so because the time relationship within a digital stream is incredibly important to reconstruct the analog waveform that must convey to our ears all the information, the music, and the enjoyment we derive from it. Distortion in the time domain (jitter) of the signal makes the sound sound small and flat instead of three-dimensional or sharp and enveloping instead of smooth and transparent.

MASSIVE 100% SILVERED GUIDERS: Solid conductors prevent mutual interference between wires in twisted pair cables and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are perfect for high-frequency applications. Those signals, because they have such a high frequency, transport themselves almost exclusively over the surface of the conductor. Because this surface is made of a very pure grade of silver, the performance is almost equal to that of a solid silver conductor, but is much closer to solid copper cables in terms of pricing. This is an incredibly cost-effective way to produce high-quality Digital Coax cables.

FOAMED HARD-CEL ISOLATION: Only foamed hard-cell insulation is used in most AudioQuest video and digital cables. As with foamed-PE, nitrogen is injected to create air chambers. Hard foam is used because the stiffness of the material keeps the distance between conductors stable throughout the length of the cable, keeping the cable's characteristic impedance constant.

100% SHIELDING (FOIL + SILVER COIL): Shielding plays an important role in any cable design, but the shielding of coax interconnects is extra important because it acts not only as a shield but also as a return path. Therefore, AudioQuest pays extra attention to the quality of the metals used and the manufacturing techniques used for the shielding, as both have an effect on picture and sound quality.

DIELECTRIC BIAS SYSTEM (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1): All insulation materials delay the signal in the conductor they encase. If an insulating material has not been preloaded, it will unevenly delay the signal, a major problem for time-sensitive multi-octave audio signals. AudioQuest's DBS provides a strong and stable electric field that saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules in the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the isolation and the multiple nonlinear timing errors that occur. Sounds emerge from a surprisingly dark background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast. The batteries in the DBS system last for years. A test button and LED allow you to check the batteries from time to time.

COOLSTON-BASED 6-LAY NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shielding is easy. Preventing captured RF disturbances from modulating equipment ground potential requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Metal- and carbon-enriched plastics prevent much of the captured RFI from reaching equipment grounding.
