The speaker cables in the AudioQuest Flat Series are based on a semi-solid concentric design. Although this does not offer the same transparency as AudioQuest solid conductors, the semi-massive conductors have significantly better resolving power than conventional multi-core cables.
SEMI-MASSIVE CONCENTRIC Wrapped Conductors: Semi-massive concentrically wrapped conductors are used as a cost-effective and flexible alternative to multi-core cables in a number of AudioQuest power cords and speaker cables. Semi-solid concentrically wrapped conductors use fewer but thicker conductors that do not change position along the longitudinal axis of the cable. Although solid conductors provide a complete solution to multi-core distortion, semi-solid concentrically wrapped conductors avoid many of the distortion mechanisms of multi-core conductors.
LONG-GRAIN COPPER (LGC): Cables with LGC offer smoother, clearer sound than cables using ordinary OFHC (Oxygen-Free High Conductivity) copper. OFHC is a generic specification in the metal industry that looks only at "loss" without regard to distortion. LGC has fewer oxides in the conductive material, fewer impurities, fewer boundary areas between copper atoms, and certainly offers better audio performance. G-2 cables use LGC conductors with semi-solid concentric construction.
SPREAD-SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY (SST): Every size or shape of a conductor has a specific distortion profile. Even though radially symmetrical conductors (solid or tubular) have the least interruptions, each conductor has a specific sound character. SST is a way to reduce the sensation of these sound characteristics by using a precisely determined combination of conductors with different
