The LCD-5 is Audeze's new open-back over-ear Planar-Magnetic flagship model in the popular LCD series. These LCD-5 headphones feature an all-new driver and an improved magnet system. Thanks to the many design innovations, not only has the weight been reduced by 300 grams, the wearing comfort has noticeably increased, also the sound quality compared to the LCD-4 has been greatly improved.

Surely one of the most visually striking changes is the departure from wood and the complete absence of screws making the design even more fluid. Audeze has also made some changes to the ear pads and headband which have further increased comfort. Surely the most important change is the 14 Ohm driver impedance with which these headphones combine better with a larger selection of headphone amplifiers.

Entirely new drivers

The most notable difference from its LCD predecessors is the use of a 90mm driver instead of the usual 106mm drivers in the LCD-2, 3 and 4. This new driver features Parallel Uniforce Voice Coils and are traditionally fitted with Audeze's Fazor Waveguides. These are now integrated into the ear cups to reduce diffraction and adverse interactions even more effectively. Partly as a result, distortion has been further reduced and sound quality in the midrange region has also increased.

An ultra-thin nano-scale diaphragm and 14 powerful Neodymium N50 magnets in a single-side Fluxor Magnet Array provide better staging and, thanks to the increased distance between magnet and voice coil, delivers higher resolution and dynamics in reproduction. This new lightweight flagship model from Audeze comes with a premium braided 6.3mm headphone cable, an aluminum storage case and a unique certificate of authenticity further emphasizing its premium character.
