A monitor speaker is at its best when it is placed on a solid, stable stand and, just like a floor-standing speaker, is given space. If you place a monitor speaker on a cabinet or a bookshelf, there is a risk that unwanted resonances will be amplified. A good speaker stand is on spikes (and if necessary, underlays to protect your floor), which results in much better decoupling. This immediately translates into an improvement in the reproduction. Spaciousness, definition, stereo image and bass reproduction improve by leaps and bounds.
The height of the LS 80 is 60 cm, which positions the monitor speaker at the ideal listening height. The LS 80 weighs 7 kilos and is very stable in combination with the supplied, height-adjustable spikes. If you want to go a step further, you can fill the standing tube with sand, for example, to nip every trace of the foot's own resonance in the bud.
Most Elac monitor speakers (see their properties) have screw bushings in the bottom to firmly connect the speaker to the LS 80. The top plate of the LS 80 has screw holes.
The LS 80 is painted in matt grey (same colour as the base of the Navis ARB-51 ).
