The Lotoo PAW S2 is a lightweight and compact portable headphone amplifier with a built-in USB DAC and is suitable for use with Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. Compared to the S1, the PAW S2 features an improved DAC and amplifier circuitry. Moreover, the PAW S2 is equipped with techniques taken from the high-quality Lotoo audio players that even surpass the sound quality of the S1. Connect this PAW S2 to your phone, tablet or laptop and experience music in a sound quality that previously seemed impossible in this price range.

The low/high gain setting makes this headphone amplifier suitable for a wide range of headphones. The output is now a whopping 125mW per channel (balanced: 150mW). For optimal connectivity, a short USB Type C to Type C cable is included including a USB Type C to A adapter.

Functionality

The headphone amplifier features a modest but uncluttered OLED display that shows you the resolution, volume, gain setting and selected preset at a glance. The AKM DAC used has a maximum resolution of 32bit and 384KHz PCM, native DSD up to DSD128 and supports 4x MQA. The most unique feature of this Lotoo headphone amplifier is an additional 4.4mm Pentaconn jack that allows even headphones with balanced headphone wiring to be used. In its class, this Lotoo PAW S2, like its S1 predecessor is the only headphone amplifier with this valuable feature.

Adjustable to your music taste

Three buttons are located on the side of the unit. A function button that allows you to easily adjust settings and two buttons for volume control. Depending on use, you can choose a matching sound preset. In doing so, this S2 has different sound settings. If you as a music purist do not want to use this, you can also easily switch it off.

Sound quality

Like its S1 predecessor, this Lotoo S2 headphone amplifier delivers very good sound quality. The soundstage is laid down wide, deep and above all wonderfully spacious. Due to the low noise and low distortion, this S2 does not leave out any detail in the music. Use the PAW S2 in combination with your PC, laptop, smartphone, tablet and game console. With this Lotoo PAW S2, the entire multimedia experience is taken to a significantly higher level.

As a portable USB DAC, this PAW S2 delivers outstanding sound quality. The total harmonic distortion (TDH+N) is -109dB (0.0003%) and the noise threshold is -121dB (balanced: -119dB). As a USB DAC, the S2 delivers just a fraction more in "presence" than its classmates, and its higher gain means the volume never has to be turned up very far.
