Flagship Style

The R9 also features a classic two-tone metal design, as found in luxury cars. The mirror-polished metal section has been polished and electroplated eleven times, carefully creating a flagship with extraordinary texture. The high-density metal housing is more robust and stable, effectively reducing distortion and minimizing the deterioration of sound performance due to vibration, ensuring stable delivery of high-quality music. In addition, the newly designed dynamic light bar combined with the dynamic RGB lighting on the buttons makes for a more attractive desktop setup.

The R9 features a large 6-inch 2160*1080 vertical (portrait) screen, which is easier to read and operate and with better screen colors, brightness and other extended quality. Combined with the open Android operating system, this offers a silky smooth experience on the R9. Moreover, the open Android operating system not only allows the user to freely install and use streaming music and other third-party apps, it has also been thoroughly refined so the user does not have to worry about app compatibility issues.

Flagship configuration

The R9 uses two ES9038PRO DAC chips, which have undergone accumulation and refinement in the R&D process of the M17 and other three high-end models, resulting in completely improved audio indicators. Distortion in all frequencies, left and right channel balance, SNR and other parameters are the most excellent of all current FIIO products, and the audio performance is also the most clear, refined and complete.

Inside the R9 is the world's first 8-channel THX AAA 788+ headphone amplifier design. Powered by a high-voltage power supply, these headphone amplifiers are paralleled via 2×2 groups for a fully balanced four-way design, significantly improving transient performance. The comb-style heat sinks and optimized circuit layout efficiently dissipate heat, making the R9 capable of continuous and stable high power. As a result, the R9 can deliver 7300 mW per channel at 32Ω, 102% higher than that of R7.

In addition, the R9 uses the powerful XMOS 16-core XU316 with low latency and supports 768 kHz/32 bit and DSD512. The Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth chip supports LDAC/aptX Adaptive/aptX LL/aptX HD/aptX/AAC/SBC for Bluetooth reception. Overall digital signal processing is fully hi-res.

Flagship experience

The R9 uses an independent HDMI chipset that supports HDMI IN, HDMI output and HDMI ARC. Image output supports up to 4K 60 Hz for high-resolution audio and high-definition visual experience.

The introduction of HDMI extends the R9's use from the desktop to the living room, and FIIO has carefully equipped it with a variety of control modes, including remote control via the standard Bluetooth remote RM3, same-screen control on the cell phone or global control via the app, in-line control via the KB1 series of control panels and FIIO LINK control via Bluetooth/WiFi. Whether it is remote control in the living room or a short distance from the desktop, the R9 can easily handle it.
