Over the past few years, there has been a revolution in the way people store, distribute and access their digital media, such as photos, movies and, of course, music. Because we no longer depend on physical carriers, our media today consists mostly of data that we can move across multiple devices and multiple locations. For audio applications and protocols, Ethernet offers the advantage of high speed, low time delay (latency), the ability to transport over long distances (300 meters without an active booster or repeater), extremely low jitter and bit-perfect communication. Who wouldn't want all these benefits!
MASSIVE10% SILVERED GUIDES: Solid conductors prevent mutual interference between the wires in twisted pair cables and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are perfect for high-frequency applications, such as Ethernet audio. Those signals, because they have such a high frequency, transport themselves almost exclusively over the surface of the conductor. Because this surface is made of a very pure grade of silver, the performance is almost equal to that of a solid silver conductor, but is much closer to solid copper cables in terms of pricing. This is an incredibly cost-effective way to produce high quality Ethernet cables.
MASSIVEPOLYETHYLENE ISOLATION WITH HIGH DENSITY: Any solid adjacent to a conductor is in fact part of a non-perfect circuit. Cable insulation and circuit board materials absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and released again as distortion. Insulation with high density solid Polyethylene ensures that critical cable geometry remains intact, minimizing insulation-induced phase distortions.
METAL-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shielding is simple. Preventing captured RF disturbances from modulating the equipment's ground potential requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Metal and carbon-enriched plastics prevent much of the captured RFI from reaching equipment grounding.
CONNECTIONS: Low-loss connectors manufactured to close tolerances with wide bandwidth and 100% shielding with strain relief.
HIGHSPEED DATA CAPACITY: The CAT 7 specification is designed to enable 10 Gigabit Ethernet over 100 m of copper cable.
DIRECTION SENSITIVITY: All audio cables are sensitive to direction. Proper direction is determined by listening to each batch of metal conductors, as used in all AudioQuest cables. Arrows on the plugs clearly indicate the correct direction to ensure optimum sound quality. For best results, the arrows should point in the direction of signal flow. For example, from a NAS to the Router, or from the Router to a Network Player.
